Hey, everyone!
You all have been terrific today. You've brought a fantastic energy to the group and our discussions. Let's keep it up over the course of the week. Hopefully, you are enjoying your time here so far. From here, it only gets better.
Today's final assignment is to write one paragraph of very detailed description, similar to what we saw David Foster Wallace do in the short story "Forever Overhead." If you struggle with this assignment, go back to the story and look at the descriptions you really enjoyed. What makes them work so well? Try to imitate whatever is most exciting.
For those of you who wanted D.F.W. to speed things along, don't worry! Not every paragraph you write this week will need to be dripping in detail. But for now, embrace it! You are all living fish, and you have gills that will let you breathe in an ocean of details. No dead fish this afternoon, no drowning in the details.
